Christmas Time Is Here!

This Christmas I had a fundraiser where I sang Christmas songs and had a big raffle to benefit Neighbor To Neighbor, a community based non-profit organization that helps those who are not doing so well this time of year. They put together boxes of food for a nice Christmas dinner and a few other meals. They also give the children a present.

It was a very successful event and everyone had a fun time.

I was also pleased to give the gift of music with a Jazz and Christmas Song performance at Sunday Brunch for Raven Landing, a new seniors residence complex in Fairbanks. Their smiling and appreciative faces warmed my heart.

This holiday always conjures up fond childhood memories and family traditions. The timeless songs that we get to sing for just a short period, help to get us into the Christmas spirit and they add to magic of the season for the young, and the old alike. Christmas makes us noticeably more giving, more grateful, loving and kind to our family, friends and even strangers Christmas comes just once a year, and there’s a great line in one of Vince Guaraldi’s Charlie Brown Christmas songs called, Christmas Time Is Here, that I really like. It says, “Oh that we, could always see, such spirit through the year.”
