Wow! A brand new year … time sure flies when you’re having fun.

Every time I hear the song Auld Lang Syne at midnight on New Year’s Eve, I get very teary-eyed. The song evokes emotions because the meaning pulls at my heart strings and makes me extremely grateful for days that have just gone by with family and friends. It makes the point that we should not forget each other. Music is powerful! My emotions also run high when I hear the Scottish bagpipes as I watch a parade pass by. They move me to tears as well.

Lynn Ross in Alaska winter

I don’t know what 2014 has in store for me musically, but I feel compelled to sing more this year. Hope we get to see each other! I have learned a lot of new songs. In the meantime, I will spend the next three months in sunny beautiful Mexico … just in time I might add … Brrr.r.r.r.r – Alaskan winter temperatures can be brutal at times.

By the way,…. I just thought of something kind of neat. Auld Lang Syne originated as a Scots poem, written in 1788 by Robert Burns. My last name — Ross — is of Scottish origin. Oh My! Coincidence? Maybe. Maybe not. Life is fascinating. Adios Amigos! Have a great year and let’s stay in touch.
